502 Flying Scotsman LNER A3 Steam Locomotive 11oz Mug
elebrate Britain’s most famous steam locomotive with this 11oz ceramic mug featuring Flying Scotsman in a vintage railway poster-style design.
Flying Scotsman was built in 1923 for the London & North Eastern Railway and became one of the best-known steam locomotives in the world. Over its long working life, it carried several different numbers, including 1472, 4472, 502, 103, E103 and 60103. Railway history: because apparently one number was far too easy.
The 502 numbering on this design represents a genuine part of Flying Scotsman’s story. After its famous 4472 identity, the locomotive was renumbered 502 during the LNER renumbering changes in 1946. It only carried this number for a short period before being renumbered again to 103, and later becoming 60103 under British Railways. So no, 502 is not an error. It is a historically correct transitional number from Flying Scotsman’s LNER era.
This mug features heritage-inspired artwork with a nostalgic railway poster feel, combining classic typography, scenic countryside detail, and the famous green profile of Flying Scotsman.
Perfect for steam train fans, LNER enthusiasts, railway collectors, heritage railway supporters, model railway lovers, or anyone who appreciates classic British locomotive history.
